Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires employers to have access to competent health and safety advice. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) call this a ‘competent person’. They would need to have sufficient training, experience and knowledge and other qualities to assist you with legal compliance.
